One of the joys of the holidays in Hawaii is taking time to hit the beaches and the places we usually are too busy to visit. Taking a trip to Waikiki? Then you might want to find parking at the Honolulu Zoo or streetside, and climb the stairs to Lu'Lu's Surf Club. What you'll find is a friendly staff, a casual restaurant, great food and an unrivalled view of Waikiki Beach.
"People sometimes come for breakfast and then stay a long time enjoying the view," says general manager Nick Prioletti. The kitchen is in the capable hands of Matt Stevenson who creates dishes that might surprise. go for breafast and order the Black and Blue Benedict for example ($14.95) and we gurantee you'll have found a favorite breakfast dish. With fresh catch of the day Ahi, seared to a subtle medium rare topped with sauteed mushrooms , two poached eggs and a cajun-spiced hollandaise, this is a dish that requires a brisk walk along the beach on completion.
Other breakfast favorites include a fully loaded French Toast ($8.95) stuffed with a pineapple lilikoi marmalade and topped with bananas and macadamia nuts. "It's a bit like dessert when you think about it," says Matt of the sweetly sinful creation.
Vegetarian options include a Tofu Benedict ($8.95)  - a grilled tofu steak with spinach topped with grilled tomatoes and a homemade tapenade.
Lunch and dinner expect to see Americanized local favorites like Crab and Artichoke Dip, Kalua Spring Rolls and a fabulous Honolulu Hot Tuna ( fresh yellowfin seared with cajun spice served over Asian coleslaw.
Dinner includes salads, steaks and seafood along with a mouthwatering menu of pupu. Perfect with a cold beer or a glass of champagne. Get there in time for the sunset and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and outstanding dishes.
Sports fans - there's Sunday morning football on lots of high def screens.
